CO-OP
ISLAMI Food Processing Plant Major Steps to Provide Real Halal
The success achieved by CO-OP
ISLAMI products across the UAE and the GCC played an
important role in fostering more moves to provide as many
Halal products as possible.
In 1991, Dubai Cooperative Society successfully established
"CO-OP ISLAMI" Food Processing
Plant" in Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, built on a 6,900 square
meter plot with a daily meat production capacity of 25 tons.
This achievement
marked a breakthrough in CO-OP ISLAMI
History by becoming the actual producer of all "CO-OP
ISLAMI" branded products that used to be produced abroad
on behalf CO-OP ISLAMI.
A year later, and in June of 1992 to be precise, the plant started
producing and distributing a variety of products depending on
the latest state-of-the-art technology to produce products of
high quality. As a result of optimum hygienic measures taken
to monitor all stages of production, the plant was awarded Jebel
Ali Free Zone "Cleanest Factory" and ISO 9001.
In addition, 'CO-OP ISLAMI Food Processing Plant' is the only
factory in Jebel Ali to be awarded HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical
Control Point), which is one of the most important standards
that monitors any hazard that may cause serious food contamination.
Laboratory
CO-OP ISLAMI instituted its own
food plant laboratory in Jebel Ali to carry out hygienic tests
on its products and other components that may be imported
from outside the country. This initiative springs out of the
fact that CO-OP ISLAMI is keen
to ensure high hygienic monitoring, and to guarantee that
all food products follow World Health
and Quality Standards.
The laboratory is well supplied with the most necessary equipments
for microbial analysis, with a total capacity of approximately
10 samples per day. Coop IsIami Laboratory
is one of the handful labs that carries out these tests in
the UAE, with a strict adherence to UAE,
GCC, CODEX Standards.
It is worth mentioning, however, that CO-OP
ISLAMI used to depend on other labs to test food products
produced or imported by Coop Islami Food Processing Plant.
Experts working in the lab are highly qualified in food microbiology.
More and above, CO-OP ISLAMI food
analysis is not only limited to its own lab, but also it frequently
dispatches samples to labs in the UAE, like Dubai Municipality
Laboratory, and Jebel Ali Free Zone Laboratory, to make sure
that its products are produced according to the highest hygienic
conditions.
