CO-OP ISLAMI Pioneering Success

Establishing CO-OP ISLAMI came into being as a result of long relentless efforts commenced in the early seventies when Hajj Saeed Bin Ahmad Lootah instituted Dubai Co-operative Society. Since it was initially launched, Dubai Cooperative Society was immersed in hard works to establish the principals of commercial dealings. Later on, 1981 came to mark a changing history of Dubai Co-operative Society, whereby the society established "CO-OP ISLAMI" for the purpose making real Halal food available for consumers through legal Islamic supervision on all meat products imported from outside the UAE.

The first product line was the "frozen chicken" line, which was a big success in the UAE and the Gulf. This success was further boosted by providing a variety of Halal meat products to consumers like mutton and beef. CO-OP ISLAMI continued its efforts to produce a variety of meat products outside the country like burgers, sausages, kebabs, minced meat and many more.

In 1991, Dubai Co-operative Society's efforts were culminated by establishing its "CO-OP ISLAMI" meat processing plant in Jebel Ali Free Zone. This plant is considered a recognizable breakthrough as it became the real producer of a variety of food products under the name "CO-OP ISLAMI", after being produced outside the country on its behalf. Ever since then, the plant is working to increase its output and add new products to satisfy the growing needs of the sophisticated consumers' tastes. In this respect, a state-of-the-art technology was fully utilized to give all these products the highest degree of quality.

CO-OP ISLAMI activities were not limited to meats, but also extended to produce other products of halal quality that are questionable such as cheese. To avoid the use of animal rennet that are produced from non Halal slaughtered animals, CO-OP ISLAMI Cheese is produced from vegetable rennet. Coop Islami varieties are Feta White Cheese, Glass Cheese, Portion Cheese, Slice Cheese, Mozzarella, Halloumi Cheese, and many more to come.

CO-OP ISLAMI products are considered as quality benchmark trusted by consumers across the UAE and the GCC, and this has made it one of the best and most preferred brands in the region. All those remarkable achievements are only the beginning and part of the big ambition that CO-OP ISLAMI carries, and that is to be the leader in producing real halal food products locally and regionally.
